Speedy Math in Your Head

A few months ago I bought “More Rapid Math Tricks and Tips – 30 days to number mastery” by Edward Julius.

Since the invention of the calculator my math skills have decreased dramatically – I have learned how to use a slide rule

but since this device has become obsolete, I’m only capable of doing the most smple calculations. I think I need to exercise my brain. I realized this when I read the book “Geekspeak” – I reviewed this book in an earlier post. Some great websites on the topic are:

  • Geek Attitude

    The attitude thing is about flexibility, portability, creativity, sociability and jamming (ran out of suitable “ity” words!). It’s about improvising – in the practical and musical senses of the word; not getting tangled in boundaries and the “right” way to do things.
    Definitely the only way to travel.
