Average Geek… :-(

Every now and then I’m thinking of the TV-series Dexter’s Laboratory, and especially the episode where he was called “average” by his arch-nemesis Mandark.
Today I found out about another GeekTest, and of course I couldn’t resist the temptation to test my own geekiness again. My score was 40,4 %, and that is more or less similar to what I scored lately on the original Geektest (42,01183%). But while the original test gave me a good feeling about myself by calling me a “Major Geek”, this new test gave me a psychological setback to the level of “Average Geek”, “still far away from the geek ideal”. Damn.
The good news is that the test is more finetuned, and ranked me among other 1112 members of the community as a geek with Nerd Tendency, as nr 77. Not too bad.

  • The Aesthetics and Beauty of Knowledge

Shih was the opposite of facts and raw information; shih was the elegance of knowledge, the insight and skill to organize knowledge into meaningful patterns. As an artist chooses colours or light to make her pictures, a master of shih chooses textures of knowledge – various ideas, myths, abstractions, and theories – to create a way of seeing the world. The aesthetics and beauty of knowledge – this was shih.

  • Geek Attitude

The attitude thing is about flexibility, portability, creativity, sociability and jamming (ran out of suitable “ity” words!). It’s about improvising – in the practical and musical senses of the word; not getting tangled in boundaries and the “right” way to do things.
Definitely the only way to travel.
