Kuehleborn

Kuehleborn lives in the Web!
Kuehleborn is my alter ego, and my internet-alias.
Kuehleborn Spengler is my Metaverse-avatar.
Kuehleborn is also a character in Albert Lortzing‘s romantic opera Undine.
Kuehleborn is the mind of the flesh-and-blood person living IRL as George Overmeire. I’m a musician, transhumanist, cryonist, libertarian, scifi-geek, Goethe-freak, Lortzing-aficionado & life-hacker.

What’s in a Name?
Or… what’s all this Kuehleborn-nonsense about? Why such a difficult name? Well, there was a time when I called myself “Giorgio”, the italian form of my daily-life name. That was in the olden days, but when I signed up with hotmail for an account I noticed that I was not the only giorgio in the web anymore…hotmail suggested I should use the name giorgio238!

So I decided to choose a username that nobody else would use. I thought about it, and chose “kuehleborn”, simply because it is a character in one of my favourite opera’s (Undine) written by my favourite opera-composer (Albert Lortzing). But when I became more and more familiar with this name, I noticed that I began to identify myself with this character. So, in fact I *am* Kuehleborn.

Facebook’s application “Name Analyzer” brought me closer to this conclusion. When I typed it in, it gave me this analysis of my name:

Yeah, that’s me, and I’m proud of it 🙂

  • The Aesthetics and Beauty of Knowledge

Shih was the opposite of facts and raw information; shih was the elegance of knowledge, the insight and skill to organize knowledge into meaningful patterns. As an artist chooses colours or light to make her pictures, a master of shih chooses textures of knowledge – various ideas, myths, abstractions, and theories – to create a way of seeing the world. The aesthetics and beauty of knowledge – this was shih.

The attitude thing is about flexibility, portability, creativity, sociability and jamming (ran out of suitable “ity” words!). It’s about improvising – in the practical and musical senses of the word; not getting tangled in boundaries and the “right” way to do things.
Definitely the only way to travel.
