Tour on Uvvy Island

For more than a week my Real Life absorbed me fully, so I wasn’t able to visit 2L (just one simple log-in to receive my weekly fee of L$ 50). But today I found the time to come back again. Visiting Uvvy Island – the new project by Giulio Perhaps and his team that is […]

Dublin

I’ve never been to Dublin IRL, but in 2L Dublin is one teleport-click away. I read about the Dublin Sim in the Metaverse Messenger of 2006 04 25. City photographs are used for the design of the sim, owned by Ham Rambler. When I walked into a shop, I was attracted by a piece of […]

House-in-a-box

Today I built my first house. It was already prefabbed in a box, I only had to adjust the elements together. That was difficult enough for me, though. The first test was to have the outer walls placed on the floor, here you see me judging my work. Then I had to put the roof […]

TeaZers!

Last days I felt a bit lost in Second Life, so no entries. What’s the use of all this? I was looking for land for the landless to buy and build myself a home, but of the available spot none was satisfying. Two days ago I chatted to a furry-like person in 2L and she […]

Presentation on Transhumanism in SL

On April 22 Giu1i0 Pri5c0 will give a presentation on transhumanism in Sl. at Mocis/29/12/29 Giu1io Pri5c0 is member of the Future Technologies Advisory Group and wrote about 2L before. I visited the room and watched the slides, perhaps not very impressive IRL, but, since it is a first experiment for a presentation in 2L […]

Waterhead Welcome Area

This is beautiful place for newbies to hang out, so I spend two days here to try some movements (like walking in a straight line). And, of course, trying to view myself from a different perspective, which was rather difficult. Well, here is a picture where I sit on a couch; it was the first […]

It’s getting better all the time!

Thought I was going to spend a considerable amount of time today in 2L, but while starting up the 2L application on my computer crashed twice. My first plan was to elaborate a bit on my lesson in building an object, and look: there is more shape and I put a texture on it. Now […]

2006-04-10

Today I was only briefly in 2L. I just had enough time to take a few snapshots. Here you see me at the learning centre. A moment later I am at the sandbox, where I can practise making objects. Here you see the first one. 🙂 Nothing special, I know, but hey, it’s my first […]

3rd day in 2L

Today I only spent a few minutes in 2L; too much work IRL. But: I found out how to add some gestures (laughing, shrugging, pointing and strectching; saying “yes”, “no”, and “wow!”) to my avater and I drove a bit on my bike, that was obviously given to me; TANSTAAFL rebuked. I think. It’s a […]

My life in 2L

Since yesterday, april 4th, I am a proud resident of Second Life, the virtual world. I simply signed up and then I entered this world. Very curious about the new possibillities, but of course, it will take some time before I will be accustomed to this world with it’s rules. Never been a gamer I […]

  • The Aesthetics and Beauty of Knowledge

Shih was the opposite of facts and raw information; shih was the elegance of knowledge, the insight and skill to organize knowledge into meaningful patterns. As an artist chooses colours or light to make her pictures, a master of shih chooses textures of knowledge – various ideas, myths, abstractions, and theories – to create a way of seeing the world. The aesthetics and beauty of knowledge – this was shih.

  • Geek Attitude

The attitude thing is about flexibility, portability, creativity, sociability and jamming (ran out of suitable “ity” words!). It’s about improvising – in the practical and musical senses of the word; not getting tangled in boundaries and the “right” way to do things.
Definitely the only way to travel.
